How it's calculated

For each federal state, school holiday dates are loaded — the source is the official BMBWF-Ferienordnung (federal law), cross-checked with OpenHolidays.

For each calendar week, we count which federal states are on holiday — weighted by their importance as a source market. Where most guests come from counts the most.

The classification is peak-anchored: the densest week sets the benchmark, every other week is measured against it. That keeps the calendar comparable across years.
The calendar reflects holiday demand, not your actual bookings. Regional public holidays, trade fairs, events and weather come on top. A guideline, not a guarantee.
